Due to the volume of enquiries we receive, and our ongoing workload, we are no longer able to provide free advice or free calls. We welcome visitors to this and our other websites, on which we will often post information and our perspective on how to get things done in the toy & board game business – these are the free resources we supply to encourage those new to the industry. We also write articles for Toy News magazine in the UK and (the official blog/website of the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg) where further insights can be found.

For those who want to take advantage of our professional advisory services we offer a limited number of paid for (subject to availability) weekly call slots. We usually have 3 slots per week, and are currently booked in advance for several weeks.

The non-negotiable cost of these calls is £200  (+ VAT for UK based companies) – roughly $320 USD dependent on FX rates.

Calls must be paid for in advance.

During calls, we cover the following usually:

  • Review of your concept/business model – feedback based on many hundreds of products/concepts reviewed within both big company and small company product selection teams.
  • Highlight key competition/specific challenges of your product sub category.
  • Review your sales & distribution plan, and advise on additional opportunities.
  • Marketing review and advice.
  • Manufacturing advice and factory introductions if relevant.
  • Answering any additional questions/supplying further sources of information.

FAQ – as we receive questions about this service, we’ll post them and our answers here to reduce email traffic/make it clearer how it works and what it can achieve!

Q:  £200/$320 for a phone call – isn’t that a bit expensive?

A: We could mention at least a dozen examples of people who came to us after they’d incurred from several thousand to several hundreds of thousands in costs on products/concepts that had little chance of commercial success…we could have outlined the pitfalls/risks in 9/10 cases if they had only spoken to us first, making the calls cheap…if only they’d made them!

Q: Is this one of those inventor scams where people charge inventors and then don’t really help them?

A: Absolutely not. This is a bespoke professional service. if relevant, we will ask you to share your concept/product details (electronically, don’t send physical products under any circumstances). In this instance we will give you specific, bespoke feedback, and help you work through the pros and cons of each option you have in terms of moving forward. We will also be direct & forthright if we feel you are ‘barking up the wrong tree’ – what you get is 100% honest feedback based on our experiences. While we are human and can make mistakes, we have experienced much in this industry and will help you as much as we can within reason bearing in mind this is an entry level service to our Consultancy work.

Q: What happens if you don’t really have anything useful to say? Won’t I have wasted my money?

We will offer you expert feedback and outline the possible paths forward for you. If that’s what you are looking for, we are 100% convinced we will be able to provide useful, meaningful advice. if that isn’t what you are looking for, don’t book a call! If we fail to give you sufficient help/advice based on this, we will issue a full refund.

Q: But why do we have to pay in advance?

A: Because we can only supply this service knowing we’re going to get paid for our work. We have limited admin resources/staff, therefore we don’t have an accounts receivable department to chase up payments.

Q: You say you are toy & game experts, how do we know you are actually experts?

A: Please read the ‘About Us’ and ‘Presentations & Articles’ pages on this website, if that doesn’t convince you, we’ll have to agree to disagree!

Q: So if I do exactly what you say step by step then you guarantee I will be really successful?

A: No, of course not! if business were that simple we’d all be billionaires! We accept no responsibility or liability for actions taken by you after talking to us. We will give you the best information/opinions we can, but you then need to decide what to do at your own risk.

Q: Will you contact toy & game companies with my idea because we paid for this call?

A: No – this is an advisory call. If we think we can take a more active role to help you in our own best interests as well as yours, we will discuss this with you, but that is not guaranteed/likely. If the advice is not enough value for you, please don’t book the call 🙂
